El Nido / Palawan Island - Philippines
With Nac Pan beach being crowned the 'Worlds most beautiful Beach' and Palawan Island crowned 'the worlds best island' three years running in 2017, you can see why millions of people flock here for that dream honey moon or bit of escapism. My BIGGEST tip for El Nido specifically is to avoid tours. Since this stunning island has been given all this publicity it has attracted masses of tourism, and I found that to experience the real beauty of the place - you had to get out an

Cebu City - Philippines
Cebu city really is purely used as a ‘transit’ city for you to get all your life admin done mid travel. It is practical and useful but not some ‘pretty city’ you would go to on a weekend break. Travellers would use it to catch a flight, get cash out before heading to the surrounding islands or posting excess baggage home. Getting Around… Uber or Grab Taxi These are super cheap to get around and if you download the app on your phone its quick and easy to use. The Phillipino’s

Travel Tips for the Philippines
Travel Tips for the Philippines! So…before I went to the Philippines I had no idea what to expect really. However, I had travelled quite a bit of Asia and Indonesia and I was expecting the same kind of thing - but I was very wrong! The Philippines is unique and different to anywhere I’ve ever travelled - the strong Catholic / Christian influence being the first obvious difference to its sister countries. The Filipino people being very laid back, chilled and ignited with a che

Searchers and Runners
Many people wonder why I travelled so much, and why others may have that desire to travel too. "What is the point?" I get frequently asked, "the UK is a beautiful little country!". I agree - the UK is a stunning little country, that I also love to explore and appreciate - in fact, I've seen nothing like enough of it yet! Over the years, I've come across very common patterns and reasons as to why some people might travel, everyone has a story and is on their own personal journ

Long Haul Travel Essentials
On a long haul flight, what you pack in your 'carry on' is key to the comfort of your journey. I have spent many years and many trips with trial and error trying to master what is essential and what is not to help me enjoy those long flights around the globe. These are a few ideas of what I think are helpful tips and tricks to help with the art of travelling comfortably... The Bag. This is a big one. I have never been a 'bag chick', I was always more into shoes. However, havi

Malaysia - Penang - George Town
Well this is a little slice of super cool Malaysia! Penang - George Town sits just off of the West side of mainland Malaysia, it is very easy to get to from Kuala Lumpur via train or bus - which take you directly to the ferry port which goes across to the little island. Bustling streets, incredible graffiti hunts, food that costs next to nothing but drives your taste buds wild, dreamy yoga and gigantic shopping malls - this place has such an eclectic mix of cultures and peopl

Slovenia - Around Tolmin - Triglavski Narodi Park
I barely scratched the surface of the Triglavski National Park around Tolmin as it is so vast - but what I did manage to see - I loved. This National park amongst the Julien Alps attracts hikers, paraglider's and water sports enthusiasts from all over the world and I can totally see why. This place is like a secret gem hidden within the rest of Europe that not everyone had discovered yet. Sandwiched between Italy, Austria and Croatia (all incredibly popular tourist destinatio

Slovenia - Ljubljana
Ljubljana is a little city with a lot to offer. This great spot borders Italy - so you will immediately notice the italian influence of beautiful gelato, tasty pizza and fantastic wine! You can sit in the sun along the Ljubljanica River enjoying a continental breakfast and lose hours people watching, or have an afternoon sit down in a hipster gelato parlour that also serves cocktails with Blue Marlin Ibiza sounds gracing the atmosphere. The diversity this destination as a cit

East Coast Australia Fingal Bay to Yamba
Fingal Bay - We heard about this when chatting to a local lady in her sixties and she said her and her husband go there for the untouched natural beauty and quiet beach. My ears pricked up as soon as heard the words "untouched natural beauty" and "quiet beach". Off we went up the coast to find this little slice of Aussie paradise. Fingal bay is only 2 hours and 45 minutes North up the coast from Sydney - I'm amazed more people haven't heard of it as its so close! On arrival,

East Coast Australia: Sydney
So I've only done part of the East coast from Sydney up to Yammba. Australia is so freaking huge, you gotta have a lot of time to try see it all. I've basically just jotted down my 'highlights' from this journey as there were so many awesome spots along the East - a lot of which I found via chatting to a few old locals that aren't necessarily the 'usual' stops people go to. A lot of them definitely don't get any 'hop on hop off' buses to them - I hired a Nissan Micra with a r

Gili Air Island
This place couldn't be more idyllic. With no motorised vehichles being allowed onto the island - the air is fresh and instead of the droning sound of hundreds of moped exhausts, all you can hear are the waves drifting up the shore, the occasional cycle bike bell and pony hooves trotting on the sand. The island is super small measuring about 5km all the way round the edge - I used to run it some mornings, but it is interesting to just walk all the way round to see all parts of

Helpful Travel Essentials
Everyone has different things they like to take away with them that they call 'their travel essentials' or 'home comforts'. Packing light is an art and takes practice...you learn what is 'essential' from your own experiences and desires. I have been fortunate enough to have travelled various places across the world all with varied climates - some humid, some dry some super baltic - some active, some lazy. Knowing what to pack can be tricky, especially if you're going somewher
